Week 2 from Around the League

Only 2 games to report on this week, both being played on the Monday night.

Starting at Winton Academy, where the BG Suns hosted the U18 Storm1 team. The first quarter was to and fro, as both teams were finding their range early on. James Walker grabbed 6 points early for the Suns, until the Storm crept ahead to lead 17-12 after 1. However the hosts fought back with better D through the 2nd and frustrated the young players and closed the gap to just 3pts at the break 21-24. Coach Kemish regathered his team in the huddle and they came out calmer and more determined with better ball movement and more clinical finishing, saw Storm1 take the quarter 20-7 and lead 44-28 after 3. Both teams were playing good, unselfish basketball and Suns closed the gap a little before the Storm closed out the game with a convincing 4th quarter. It ended 58-38. Suns Player Pete Atkinson said "im happy with the way we played after so long away, against a strong Storm team. As a team we played well, just need to work on our finishing a bit more to close it out".

In the other game Southbourne Blazers travelled to Bridport to face the Evolution. The Evolution have been working hard to expand their presence in the West of the county and it shows with some strong new talent bolstering their experienced lineup. The Blazers are still finding their feet after a joining of the Donkeys & Blackhawks and new players from the East of the County... and unfortunately it was too much for the new Blazers, as Evolution ran out winners 102-34. Player/Coach Craig Sorrell added "Every player on our squad has worked really hard over the past 18months and is shows in the performance. Credit to the Blazers, who are a new team, and we didn't know what to expect, but we just stuck to our game plan and I couldn't be prouder of the team right now".

Congrats to Angus Pudge for the games MVP with 33 points, including 5x 3's

Next up Suns travel to Bridport, whilst Storm go to Blazers...
