Week 15 & 16 Around the League

Div1.

The last couple of weeks, since the Cup Finals, have been busy and shaken up both divisions. First up in Week 15, the Storm looked to bounce back after their cup final loss, but the Oaks got the better of them by 6, 97-91, to close in on the top spot, and then in Week 16 have tied it up as they got a walk-off win over the Spartans, after a little ruckus, that is still being looked at by the discipline board, and may yet change. The Razors went to St. Edwards on Wednesday and after a solid first quarter (20-9) took control and closed out the game with a big win, 89-68, that gave the Storm only their third loss of the season and 2 in 2 weeks.

Div 2.

Donkeys still suffering from their injury loss of their big, had no match for the visiting Blackhawks, which finished 47-92. The Raiders then hosted the Seahawks on the Thursday and have been much improved in 2020, and shot lights out, to take a big win 109-70 to close the gap to the other Div2 mid table teams. The Suns, who admit to being hit or miss, came so close to dethroning the undefeated BU team, but the Performance closed it out from the line down the stretch and took the win 76-70. The Performance hosted the Raiders, the following day, in a double header, and the Raiders came back from a 6pt deficit after 3Q, to close out the game and take the win 72-69 and hand the BU team, not just their first, but also their second loss of the year. BU did have the chance to take it, but went 2-from-6 from the line down the stretch to succumb. [Congrats to BU for going unbeaten in BUCS league 2019-20 and gaining promotion].

Week 16 saw the Seahawks travel down the road to St. Peters and better the Donkeys 60-46 to move up to 5W-7L. Raiders hosted the Blackhawks and got their 6th win of the season (4 in 2 weeks) in a close game that again saw some clutch FT's missed at the death, as Blackhawks went 1-from-10 from the charity stripe in the 4thQ. 70-65 to Raiders. Suns hosted BU at St. Peters, but couldn't match their form of the previous week as BU bounced back to winning ways to take it by 30pts, 88-58. The last game of the week saw the Seahawks travel to the Blackhawks on the Sunday, where the home team got the win, 78-52. to slide up to 2nd above Evolution, who have a game in hand and the better win%.

We now close in on the playoff positions, which 5 weeks to go, all games completed by Easter. Each team still has the chance to move up or down and it's still in their own hands. Storm and Oaks face off on March 18th, that could see the league title decided before they go to the Tigers. Storm have Spartans and Bandits still to face. In Div2, Blackhawks and Evolution need BU to slip up against Seahawks or Donkeys, but then the Blackhawks travel to BU on Good Friday in the final fixture which could decide final places. BRING IT ON!
