Around the League - Weeks 4&5

The Conferences starting to take shape as we pass the half way stage and start to see the top teams show their dominance, and the struggle to stat alive for Div1 promotion heats up at the bottom.

Its been a busy couple of weeks, so I won't go into each and every game, but highlights from each Conference.

Conference A has two teams still remaining undefeated, new boys Titans and reigning champs the Bears... who face each other for the first time on Monday! Also in another big upcoming match, Bandits face Classics, on Tuesday. With Bandits having lost to Bears and Titans in the last 2 weeks, it sets up a grudge match between them and Classics for the Div1 place. However it goes, there's still a chance if either can pull an upset in their remaining games.

Conference B has the Oaks as runaway winners. They have a 5-0 record already, with 2 big wins over Bandits2 including a single scoring record from Tomas Skoitys who dropped 65pts in a game!! Razors have also secured Div1 play, with a 3-2 record with 1 to play (vs Oaks). The last game in the conference sees Storm host Bandits2. Both have a record of 1-4. And they missed the previous face-off, with Storm forfeiting the game. So Storm need to win by 20pts to avoid relegation. As a measuring stick, within these last 2 weeks, Storm managed to better Razors by 7pts, whilst Bandits lost to them by 14. Take this as a 21pts difference, that 20point differential is going to be close!

Conference C has Salisbury Suns as leaders, with 3-0 record having beaten each team, including a huge win over Spartans this week. Of the other 3, its anyones guess!! Each team has a record of 1-2, and have split their fixtures 3 ways. Spartans over Tigers by 5. Tigers over Evolution by 1. Evolutions over Spartans by 21. This puts Evolution in the driving seat in head-to-head-to-head points differential. Monday 14th sees Evo host Tigers, and the following Wed 23rd the Tigers play host to the Spartans, but it may all come down to the last fixture of the Conferences on Dec12th as Spartans go to Bridport.

Conference D is the odd one out. No team is being relelgated, (or promoted) so they are already playing for their standings. The young Storm U18 team have cemented their place on the top of the table, with wins over Legends and Seahawks, remaining undefeated on 4-0. It appears they have gelled quickly into a great unit. The other 4 teams have split results. Suns got one over Seahawks, but then went down to Blazers, who notched up their first W by 2pts! Legends had topped the Blazers, before facing the Seahawks down in Weymouth in another close game, with the older Gents taking it by 3pts to put them 2nd in the table. Tuesday sees Seahawks go to Blazers, and Wednesday has Legends hosting Storm.

Bring on the next few weeks!!
